24 hr.(...church walls and dive bar bathroom stalls...)

By verablue

Friday (12:30am)
The dive bar strip’s been washed up
In vodka blue lights
Six grams of cocain
Frozen like a deer in the headlights

Flash forward (6:30am)
The air is sticky with loose tongue confessions
Vibrant words and stories of a billion worlds
(…before…)

The steel rain comes crashing down like solitude
(And I’m speaking highly to the cold pillows beside me)

The sidewalk’s haze flooded by lost souls in down blankets
Drawing flashbacks of sadhna, Amritsar 1999 (4am)

Now the church walls are bleeding down vindication
And I’m watching your face melt into apathy
24 hours down the drain in a twelve pack of new castle

But I’ve always liked the way the tide breaks against my ankles
(…When the delirium sets in…)

Talking stone walls and glass stones
A daydream in my pocket
A broken down motel

(…Sometimes life comes at you in the strangest ways…)

So I let you drain hours from my skin in plastic vials

(You never we’re the subtle type…but still inches from cryptic)

And at 6:30am the rain comes crashing down like solitude
Seeping through the doors in sweet symphonies

Friday night (12:30am)
The strip is haloed in vodka blue lights
Six grams of cocaine

Flashbacks and stale silence
And I’m lost like a little girl in this skyscraper world

(How do you always manage to disappear like that?)

I often get a bit overwhelmed by the thick substance in your poetry..a rasping urban breathing... and sticky blood that smell like street grime.. woven from dreams, noir hearts and city nights, truly felt..

:) :) :) This was like a series of polaroids, each so telling and brilliant with only the minimum of detail needed to convey emotion. Fan-bloomin- tastic!!

This is a wonderful piece of work.. so intelligent and descriptive. "The air is sticky with loose tongue confessions".. I will be coming back to read this often. Artistically executed. I'm enthralled by this.
