The Rains
By GothicBlack
For only unknown reasons
This is where I stand today
On the side lines to life
Surrounded by grief
Engulfed by sorrows
Mystery feelings unknown to me
Yet it settles like a familiar pastime
A cozy blanket of needles
The lament of morning’s mist
Whispers danger to my ears
Won’t the rains come and wash it all away?
I want to drown in the dessert
Burned from the artic ice
But I’m swept up by
The ancient howling winds
Without my patience
Without my conciseness
I want to ride upon the world
To the very end
Onto the ocean’s shore
Bleed upon the crystal sands
And weep for the world
I see myself standing alone, naked
Beaten against the jagged rocks
Which has become my life
I utter a lonely cry
A guttural gasp for breath
When will someone find me here?
Centuries later
Can’t the rain just wash me away?
Silently
I’d rather be empty
Then so full of emotions
That I’m liable to spill and break
At any given time
I’m too used up and worn
Torn
I need to be cleansed
Why won’t the rains start?
Can’t they hear my desperate plea?
Why won’t they answer me?
I need the sky’s tears
To hide my very own
I’m waiting at the end of the world
And all I need is one more push
One more reason to break
I’m just waiting to drown
Please,
I beg of you
I need the rains to start soon
For I fear
I can’t wait much longer
Look
I’m waiting here
Alone on the beach
All I ask
Is for you to come
And take me away
Wash all of me away
I must drown in the rain

To the point of breaking...and back. Yeah, I agree...this is beautiful. Reminds me of a song also. Would be pretty as a song. You made me ache for some kind of break...

This was beautiful. It reminded me of a sad song by The Alan Parsons Project called "Oh Life, There Must Be More".

This is so powerful, I really enjoyed the images and raw emotions evoked in it. I'm glad you are still writing, if only a little bit :D. Asheai
