Dreams of the Children
By l mo
When I was young
Back in preschool
The teachers would ask
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
And us, little tykes
Unaware of the reality
Would say things like
"Astronaut! Singer! President!"
But then as we reached
For our goals of that dream
They would pull us back
Saying "Not that far"
My teachers encouraged
The imagination and creativity
And told that nothing
Was out of reach
But then as we reached
For that goal and that dream
They would pull us back
Saying "Not that far"
As I got older
I started to realize
That none of it was real
It was just a ploy
It was just a fluke
A way to make us reach ahead
Strive to do well
But in the end, we'll always fail
Our goals and our dreams of our childhoods
Withered away with time
As reality stepped in
And showed us the truth

its called psychological warfare and its design is intended to mold innocent young minds into functional members of society.

fill up our minds with nonsense, give us something nearly impossible to aspire to so that way when our spirit is crushed we just become a drone.
