Mirror, Mirror

By suicidalsecrecy

Looking in the mirror
All she sees is her misery
All this darkness won?t go away
Feelings of darkness, despair won?t go away
She looks harder into her reflection
She sees nothing at all
Stares harder, deeper she sees nothing
Deeper, harder nothing at all

Misery loves company
She?s found her equal
She peers at the mirror
And sees someone just like her
But it?s not her this one is unequal

She reaches out to touch this entity
It backs away with fear and uncertainty
She yearns for its touch
Its sensation
And scent
She longs to feel her hurt and pain
To experience her torment

She turns to look away from the mirror
The creature reaches out to her
Her suffering has trapped her inside
Now she is being pulled within

Two become one
And they?re both trapped inside
They are on the other side
One where anguish is normal
And bliss is atypical

What is done cannot be undone
What has begun cannot stop
The behemoth she will become
Savage beast she will be
Because I am her and she is me

Do you read Sylvia Plath? This reminds me of her "Mirror." I also did one along those lines titled Reflections. In your line about "she sees someone just like her" I got the impression that you were equating yourself to an image, as opposed to a reality. The more I think about it, the deeper it becomes, forever falling into the void between life and it's outward perceptions. It's sometimes more comforting to exist in this halfway world rather than to experience truth. I appreciate this work. Scholar
