The Forgotten Rose

By l mo

A single rose
Red as blood
Lies alone
In a sea of darkness

No one knows
How long it's been there
But there it will remain
Until the end of time

The rose has long since
Been forgotten
It's buried deep
Drowned in animosity

It tries to surface
But gets pushed back down
And left ignored
All alone again

Buried deep in my heart
Lies a undying love for you
That is never seen
By the light of day....

vivid image, have you ever read "A Rose for Emily", I cant think of the author, but its a fairly well known author, maybe Faulkner or Poe. This poem reminds me of it.
