forty winks

By missanthropic

never will these night terrors
cease petrifying me
snippets of horror
expertly aimed at my psyche
immortal creatures of memory,
blurred together and bleeding violence.
how perplexing the mind can be
stalking me,
raping the fragile peace within
pupils dilate with panic
as the mind births new horrors
some untold, others unseen
and all of them, entirely intangible
awoken from my sweaty slumber
with a multiplicitous fury
disrupting my tranquil autonomy,
empty, perspiring palms grasping at the world around me
austere eyes seeking succor,
unable to distinguish differing degrees of darkness
i pull my limbs back onto the bed,
reeling over, inhaling the brutality and breathing deeply,
sleep's sieve surrounds me again, this time -
undertaking the reconstruction of a mutilated body
in preparation for my final wake

with a multiplicitous fury disrupting my tranquil autonomy-this line blew me away...what a horrifying tale you have woven here...expertly crafted to place me in your bed, and in your mind...wonderful work, once again

erudite and sharply, coldly chilling... and i absolutely love "with a multiplicitous fury" - it's just got such a great ring to it... Fine write indeed. :)

  • A former member wrote: exceptional use of the language here, structured well to flow nicely and full of subliminal meaning. Well done indeed.
