trapped (nowhere to go)

By Sky Singer

i want to go
beyond
this
high school
mentality:
the notion that
there is only
sex
drugs
and getting
grounded
for bad grades.
i want to
dive into
philosophy
psychology
sociology
i want to
see
the world
for what it
isn't,
turn it
upside down
and come
to the
conclusion
that
this is not all there is
and this is not
all there is to know.
the world
is not only
my stage
but moreover
my
playground
and my
classroom.

i have
so much more
to learn
so much left
to experience

...and isn't it
sad
that i am
confined
to this
obdurate
second-floor
study hall.
hypnotized and
tantalized
by this will
to run and
spread my wings
...and isn't it
sad
i am left
with no place
to go...

or, perhaps, since you must go you could find creative ways to fly... for you will not find expansive skies beyond the confines of schooling... only more cages and birds beginning to realize the time to die is near...

A gorgeous elegant flow. I loved, "i want to see the world for what it isn't,". Stunning work. ~L
