The Beginning of the End

By Methos

This is a series of poetry that was decided upon between myself, and my talented Dark Brother, suicideseason. A series of light and dark, good and evil. Unfortunately, I happened to draw the short straw, and was given the Light side of the series. A side I find myself not too familiar with, though the show must go on....

The Beginning of the End

angels become soldiers within this war
once creatures of beauty, once before
now lined with armor made of light
they prepare for the darkest fight
swords of purest silver grace their side,
many a demon fell to them, many died
now marching within the clouds above,
they strive forward blessed, by Gods love

below, preparations being made by man
for no one faces darkness without a plan
robes of white wrap priest and bishop
while warriors fall in, quickly lining up
axes and spears lie in anticipation
for the dark creatures of damnation
blessings passed through words of truth
by a priest, still well within his youth.

clouds of black arise far to the east
driven forward by Satans dark beasts
though the smell of death floods the air
the pure of heart remain in prayer
the words of the Lord ring true within
as the world they once knew, comes to an end
facing the perilous evil that draws near
without any hesitation, without any fear

The clouds of Light clash with a blackened Storm....
the faith of man, the pureness of angels
face the darkest of nightmares, the legions of hell...

"the wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion."
Bible, Proverbs 28:1

A nice sense of balance in this one. It puts me in mind of a Magic the Gathering story line, which is high praise indeed.

Ya know, I can so relate this to pre-battle of much more then that which the bible speaks of. You've done such an excellent job capturing the rush of preperation and the morbid beauty of the pride and armor! This is wonderful.
