the conquerers

By manunkind

we all wear the same damned things
tattered hearts and golden rings
we all feel the same damned things
the scarlet pain that hurt brings
tears so cold, they've turned to ice
a damned and bloody sacrifice
we march
the world before us, on her knees
begging, begging, show mercy please!
we now live in a different time
babies are slaughtered
flowers are dying
even the truthful, caught at lying
and we march...
the stars before us bleeding silver cream
this time our sins wont be redeemed
we now bleed in black and not in red
you may be killed,
but only the lucky are truly dead
commands are screamed- no words are said
only the lucky are truly dead
ever onward we march..
the moon before us, crumbling, crying
there is no peace, but
unearthly screams and twisted dying
into the night we march...
until we meet the sun
a fiery battle
we've just begun
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
victory
.
someone screams: we've won!
for a second. we pause.
to see what we've done
yes
we
really
have
done it.
we've conquered the sun.
the sun.
darkness absorbs our long dead minds
he searches for something he will never find
his cry fills the rotten, polluted air
he screams
he glares
but no matter where he looks [or for how long]
no happiness exists here
we are plagued with wrong
our souls have been eaten raw
any good is gone

Gosh. You just might be the first poet I have encountered on this site that I can relate fully with. Your works speak the words I have not found.

  • A former member wrote: I'm glad I happened upon this one. It contains some excellent lines. Far too many to mention actually. I truly enjoyed this poem.

  • A former member wrote: you have true talent. This poem is amazing. I love it. The words you choose are compatible and it brings the poem rythm. But not only is the rythm and writing good, but the message you convey. another great poem. *applause*
