You and Them

By Cinn

It's been said everyone has a double,
Someone who looks like you in every way,
And who really knows for sure?
Maybe it's true;

But what if your double doesn't look like you?
What if they're not the same gender?
Or even the same religion?
But yet still just like you;

What if you always thought you were alone?
That no one could undestand,
Or even care what you're about?
And then you find out it's not true;

What if you find someone who's so much like you,
That it scares you beyond recognition?
And you, being the paranoid freak that you are,
Are sure that this person isn't for real;

What if you find someone who knows the truth,
About all that really fluffy fosting and your head?
And knows all about the 'I miss you' bullshit,
And possibly understands you more than you do?

What is it that you do then?
Run away stark raving mad?
Ignore them and stay being you paranoid self?
Or maybe let them slowly take over your mind?

How can you stop obsessing about them all day and night?
How do you get it through you stuborn head,
That you will never get it to work out?
How do you overcome something like that?

How do you keep your heart from breaking?
Or at least a part of it from being taken away?
What if there's nothing you can do about it?
What if all the likeness and feelings aren't enough?

Is that when you're really and truly fucked?
Is that the point when nothing matters anymore?
Or the point when everything matters for once?
Is it maybe neither one?

And by the way, what do you call it?
An obsession maybe, that won't go away?
Perhaps it's just amazement that you're not the only one?
And maybe, just maybe, it doesn't have a name;

And what if this double will never know?
Never really know what it is they do to you,
How deep they got inside you,
And how well they really understand you;

Maybe they can't know just how they got to you,
That some thing's you told them are deep dark secrets,
Or even started things that you couldn't stop,
And how important that one little thing was;

Then again, maybe they know all about it,
After all they are your double, right?
And they do understand you more than anyone,
Isn't that how you said it?

But as we all know, you're paranoid,
And you simply can not except it,
They can't know everything you feel,
But just what if they did?

How do you get around something like that?
How do you leave paranoia behind,
And just love every minute of this?
Afte all you never know when it will change;

And most important of all...
How do I tell him about all of this?
