In the cold cold night

By torn_beauty

Cold seeps into my fingers, edges them in pain.
The weather like my heart has found no warmth
to give my body.
Shadows chase my steps, tripping my feet in the leaves.
The night like my heart has found no light
to give my sight.

There is a hope in the dark. I wish in this cold blight.
No, forget that.
As much as I wish, i shall have no respite.

In the distance, just beyond my wary plight.
In the future, just beyond my self made night.
I can feel your tenderness,
almost see you in this endless night.
Hold my mind, hold my heart.
find me, save me. protect me from the stark
empty plane of my despair.

There is a hope in the dark. I wish in this cold blight.
No, forget that.
As much as I wish, i shall have no respite.

Can I forgive myself my fears?
can i forgive my bitter tears?
no, forget that.
As much as I wish, I deserve no respite.
