The Water Tower

By nur hidayah

Saturday,
I tried to take in the sky in one swallow
My heart burst at its seams
Blue blood fingered purple through red veins
Would my tears flow indigo?

Optic static
Thin streams of clouds disgorged
Lash snagged white.

Watermill
Rolling eyeballs to the brain;
Aquarium of pounding colours
Five minute memory fishes
Bumping into non existent
Tank boundaries.

The earth laid naked
Stripped of her blue dress

Blushing red deserts
And sensuous mountain peaks
River valleys
Spread wide open

With human hands the stars were grabbed
And the earth propelled to a staggering spin
It isn't that hard.

Like rowing a boat

Purposeful
Lonely

The sea, it swayed against my thighs
Dancing moon beats.

The infinities never looked so endearing
[Milk]y Way stained dark blue lip
If only I could reach and kiss
It away.
Slip a tongue into the beyond

But
I could wear explosions
In a glittering tiara
And the universe still
Would never notice.

Saturday,
I ate the sky in one swallow
And my soul has been ripped, it seems.
