Those were the days?

By Deathkitten

The liquid July sun
rolls into giant heat waves
Blistering unprotected & virgin skin
Turning paleness to red
A shade of tan to brown
Accompanying the many beach bums
and barbie girls laying out
absorbing the harmful UV rays
Sipping on an apple martini
taking pictures in their bikini
and posting on social networks
wasting summer fun away
worrying about complexion
Stalking toned surfer boys
and volleyball games
Only to look back on it
a few years from now
nodding & grinning
Saying: "Those were the days."

Apple martini , hell yeah, I'm finding the nearest shade to absorb this beautiful scene, and a warm breeze dancing through our hair, I'm in heaven with this one.~*_*~.I need to get out more, ;) xxx Fave, line ~"The liquid July sun rolls into giant heat waves"* makes me think of a magical mirage of the sun melding with the ocean in perfect harmony. ;) Thanks for posting this !! kitten xxx

Always better in the recollection. The most miserable feeling is to wake up on the beach, all crusty and hung-over, hot and miserable, and then calling it a "blast" at a later date. Brought back memories, thanks Jess!

I'd love to visit the west coast one day. I bet it's beautiful out there! I'm glad this one made you feel good. I like to write on the brighter side some. Thanks, Todd :)
