Family
By sole
I thought, what exactly is a family? Transgressions that were held,
devoid of you, your coming, or even a glimmer. Then a hope, a responsibility,
an oligation--an expectation.
That is family is it not? The
bloodlines of welfare, the empty charity, the half-smile. Can you see
family yet? The cold, calcified membranes of persons you are sworn to
under a system you never agreed to. Can we not regret this family? The
loose translation of gathering on a pretense of gathering for the sake
of gathering only to leave... is that family? The expectation of acknowledgement,
knowledge better suited for friends than foe, friends than family. The astonishment
of the realization of this truth, the fact that family, or its meaning
is flawed, untoward and also inescapable. I suppose you could point
a finger at one or two that ruin a family, but why point? Why associate,
take action, or claim responsiblity for... family? I
have friends, and I love them extremely unequally.

Family and friends are both great things. Just remember, friends will come and go but family will always be there. I enjoyed this poem because it was philosophical. :)

I believe family comes in many different ways and that is what you make of it the good and the bad of the dynamic that you choose for a family

Family is what you start with... and a very good place to be from.... far from.
