The Death Convoy

By Zhee

Shrouds of silence
Lie in slashed disarray,
The clamor of alarms
Rolling off tympanic membranes
Rousing from fallacious stupor
The complacent minds,
Preparing these mechanized hands
To receive… the pieces…

Echoes of the IEDs
Etched, on the permeating stench
Of scorching flesh,
Adhering -
To dams of tourniquets
Across bloody rivulets
Staining the yellow garbs-
Red…

Amidst vestiges of limbs
And severed carotids,
Misplaced arms and
Displaced brains,
The alarms blare!
Death and mutilation,
Hate and desecration-
Pleading …

Scalpels and clamps, tamponade -
The deathly tide swallowing
Remnants of meager hope,
As fading memories gasp
At the bloody finale…
Announcing,
Seven alphas….Three bravos…
…..One Charlie…
