A memory of a hero.

By Deviated09

Wake up in the morning, come out of the rain.
I'm comin' out shouldered, we're ready for pain.
This soldier's path is being cleared wide open again.

I'm so glad to see you have overcome them.
Alive to fight the good fight for our anthem.
It was almost time for my visit from the chaplain.

We've all lost so much over here, my brethren.
The land has become very lost and barren.
I'm just glad we've made it through all of this hell.

I saw the holy ghost, my friend, I thought we lost.
All was cold and bitter with that relentless frost.
All I could see was them falter then they all fell.
