Ride M'lady, Ride
By Malcholm Dark
Lady
Godiva, a beauty which shines so bright
Lady of our town, an angel
of golden light.
The spirit of compassion for her fellow
man
An ideal her husband could never understand.
Yet something
was amiss, something I didn't see
Something I had missed, right
there in front of me.
Ride m'lady, ride
Naked through
the streets of Coventry.
Ride m'lady, ride
For you are surely
something to see.
I am Peeping Tom, I gawk at all her glory
I'm coming along, so I may tell her story.
She makes this
ride for the rights of her fellow man
One more thing her husband
will never understand.
I give an assist to the top of her
horse
Not one sight I missed, she then started her course.
Ride m'lady, ride
Naked through the streets of Coventry.
Ride
m'lady ride
For you are surely something to see.
With
a tear in my eye
.
.
.
a smile on my face
.
.
.
and a hardening below...
.
.
.
ride
m'lady, ride.

Think I'll join this website since I've found one poet who I believe could teach me a thing or two. I look forward to spending some time with your previous works. Most enjoyable!

Gives a new meaning to riding bareback, Lady Godiva, an all-encompassing free spirit. Hardening below eh? She really knew how to get a rise out of people. Nice to see one of your works again, write onward.
