Why Mommy

By Malcholm Dark

Why mommy,
mommy why...
did you promise to always stay
and watch for me every day?

Why mommy,
mommy why...
did you leave me by myself at home
without daddy, without you, all alone?

Why mommy,
mommy why...
did I find daddy's hidden gun
and play cops and robbers for fun?

Mommy why...
did you allow such things to pass you by?

Mommy why...
was I allowed to shoot myself and die?
.
.
.
.
.
.
Why mommy?

I swear to god, if I read about another child that killed themselves with an unloaded gun, I'll take that rat-fuck of a father and shoot him myself...

  • A former member wrote: I think its interesting that in the poem, you took your feeling out on the mother instead of the father, when in reality, it was probably the dads fault.

Such tragedy, and it happens all too often. I for one can attest to the father being neglectful. My dad always kept a gun in his dresser, but luckily I knew enough not to play with it. Some are not so lucky, and you're rage is completely understandable. Write onward. Scholar

  • A former member wrote: I like how this pleads with 'mommy'... emphasizing her loss, her helplessness, when it's probably more likely that the father was neglectful, as you mention in the note.... well done, just had one on the news the other day. Scholar

  • A former member wrote: Yes, a terrific point...it's always the "unloaded" ones, ain't it? A justifiable anger & sadness here, Malcholm....gotta admire this passion...an excellent point! Take care with the damn guns, people! Scholar

Fuck! Let me gather myself so can respond! I still have chills...took my breath away twice in the same few seconds... I bow... Scholar
