Empty fears
By nightshade
Twilight falls upon all
Upon the nations of the earth
The world
holds its breath
Waiting for the birth
The animals silent The night coiled yet calm
The sky pierced suddenly
By an unearthly glow
Groans, cries
Whispers, screams
Echo through the realms
For the glourious birth
Is not what
it appears
For something is born
That feeds on fear
The preadator swoops down upon its prey
During this time that is
neither night or day
All the creatures that walk the earth
Slowly
lose their joys and mirth
While into its place seeps a dark cold fear
A fear laid hidden for many a year
The darkness grows
Becoming
a cloud
Wrapping the earth
in a dismal shroud
Out of the
darkness
comes imagined foes
Conjured from the mind
With
it’s myriad of woes
Suddenly in the darkest blackest hearts
Of all the ones imprinted with chaos’s mark
Feral whispers call
forth from the night
Calling the forsaken away from the light
From the earth rises a putrid rotting hand
Pulling itself up so
the dead can walk again
The world slowly falls into the darkness
of night
And men stand round fires cherishing the light
The
winds howls across the wasteland of their souls
Their hearts beat
fast and their blood runs cold
The ultimate preadator enters the
fold
It creeps past defenses entering the hold
It steps out
of the shadow into the light
Yet no one see the danger in sight
It absorbs them into itself one at a time
Their looks and features
it mimics and mimes
Until the bloodlust becomes a simple thirst
It’s body bloated ready to burst.
The warriors contorted
Faces distorted from fear
All slaughtered as
Victims which
fought in vain
For they could not destroy
what was not there
Slaughtered by fears
Their mind could not bear
