Echo of a Good Night

"Wow"
"This is beautiful"
"Have a wonderful night..."
"This is utterly beautiful"
"...this kind of relationship"
"...and memorable happens..."

"Tears are streaming..."
"Absolutely beautiful"
"I hope..."
"...I... I can't explain..."
"I don't know if I'm crying because I'm jealous..."
"...so you can remember it..."

"...down my face"
"You are so fortunate to have..."
"...something special..."
"Amazing"
"...or because I'm touched by the beauty of this"

"...and be happy"

Isn't it great
How a person can say something
So short, but so perfect
And it still
Makes you smile
For so long?
"Have a wonderful night. I hope something special and memorable happens, so you can remember it... and be happy..."

And isn't it awful
How a person can say something
So accidental, but so deep
And it still
Burns your heart
Into ashes?
"You are so fortunate to have this kind of relationship. I don't know if I'm crying because I'm jealous..."

And isn't it ironic
How you can be so happy
At one little goodbye
And so ripped open
That you don't have
What someone is jealous of you for having?

It's a stab in the back
To know in your heart
That they truly believe
You're so lucky
SO DAMN LUCKY!
That you got what you want
That you can tell a happy story
Without lying

When all you've ever done
Is written out wishes
That never came true

And you're too sad to cry
And you're too clever to kill yourself
And you're too clever to cut yourself
And you're changing the subject
Because this will not become
A cutting poem
And you're too stubborn to fall in

No death
No blood
No drugs
No alcohol
No self in-fucking-flicted pain

WELL WHAT THEN?

How about a little goodbye?

"Have a wonderful night.
I hope something special and memorable happens,
so you can remember it.
And be happy."

Thanks Dave.
