The Art Show

By Malcholm Dark

Come one, come all...

Be a part of yet another show
My one man, art extravaganza.
The show-room is a bit small
But the view is so very good.
Crowd on around the taped off boundary
Hurry now, the show is about to begin.
For here in the center
The very reason I am.
My perfect flower
The lady in red.

Oh look, there in the very corner
A policeman pukes uncontrollably.
Dounuts, coffee, a breakfast burrito
Everyone applauds my work differently.
There is the State Medical Examiner
Measuring all of the parts and pieces.
Look, two highly decorated detectives
So pellucid, conferring with each other.
Conversing, perplexed, interviewing--wondering
Why my flower is spread over such a large area.

Ah, another policeman runs to the corner
Refried beans and rice with carne assada.
More needed acclaim
Thank-you, thank-you.
An ambulance arrives with the coroner
His attendants and a photographer too.
Every person here is wearing latex gloves
Try not to disturb the art I have created.
The flies, ants and other bothersome insects
They are now doing a wonderful job of that.

The press has arrived, still cameras and video
I shall get great reviews on my work tonight.
So many people looking, reviewing and critiquing
Many more coming as policemen try to contain them.
Look a letter has been found, cleverly hidden
Beneath a pile of entrails--covered in plastic.
An ambulance attendant hurries to the corner
An enormous applause, rosetta and lasagna.
The detectives unwrap the bloody letter
Everybody holds their collective breaths.

"To the shepherds,
My travels have brought me here to your fields
Well stocked, helpless and unprotected, fields.
Tonight was only the beginning, my axe beckons
I am about to unleash a plague upon your city.
Your blood will fill the gutters
Your sheep will line the streets!
Shepherds will run amok
   Discombobulated.
           Catch me when you can...
                                    the axe man!"

Thank-you all for attending my event
I hope that my art was to your liking.
Please look for me again in one month
And make plans for another art show.
For on that day, on an empty lot or back street
When someone dies, I shall create a masterpiece!

Brutal and expressive...I loved it. And I also concur that you should write a book. I would buy and read it...The axe man seems familiar to me tho....

The morbidity was absolutely stunning, one of the most graphic depictions of a murder scene I've ever read. I like how every kill to this guy, is just another canvas on which to work, and every street becomes his gallery. I also found out that cops have very weak stomachs lol, well done my friend, thanks. A wonderfully macabre piece. The Ripper would be proud!
