Wonderful
By jajang829
Who I am
Is not
Who I was.
But if
Those words are true
How can
It also be true
That who I was
Made me
Who
I am?
And who
Am I really?
Am I not truly
A product
of my past?
Whose mistakes
have shaped me?
Why mine
of
course.
And if you think
I am so wonderful.
The I
That
was molded
By those mistakes
Must wonder how
Such horrible
mistakes
Can produce
Wonderful.
For surely
The acids
and filth
I bathed myself in
Have created
Scars.
Can
true beauty
Be found
Beyond
My self mutilation?
In
reality
I know the answer
To these questions.
But
Do
you?
Of course you do.
For you are
Wonderful.

This was kind of a free write poem, but the personal level at which this poem touches me goes much deeper than the words can convey. If I reach even a fraction of that with you, I will be content.Awards

Awe. Just pure awe. I loved every word. For who am I really? How do I view myself? Hmmm thoughts to ponder. "For you are Wonderful." That made me smile so big. I wasn't expecting that. But that was truly a perfect ending to a wonderful piece :) Thanks for the write Jajang!

I enjoyed this write. It has great questions asked. There's a reason we should pay attention to the past. It's so we learn from it and don't repeat it.

without the pieces of the past that remain as reminders..we may be condemned to repeat the same mistakes...I enjoyed reading this..very introspective...and y'know, some of us really dig scars ;)
