Wonderful

By jajang829

Who I am
Is not
Who I was.
But if
Those words are true
How can
It also be true
That who I was
Made me
Who I am?
And who
Am I really?
Am I not truly
A product of my past?
Whose mistakes
have shaped me?
Why mine
of course.
And if you think
I am so wonderful.
The I
That was molded
By those mistakes
Must wonder how
Such horrible mistakes
Can produce
Wonderful.
For surely
The acids and filth
I bathed myself in
Have created
Scars.
Can true beauty
Be found
Beyond
My self mutilation?
In reality
I know the answer
To these questions.
But
Do you?
Of course you do.
For you are
Wonderful.

Awe. Just pure awe. I loved every word. For who am I really? How do I view myself? Hmmm thoughts to ponder. "For you are Wonderful." That made me smile so big. I wasn't expecting that. But that was truly a perfect ending to a wonderful piece :) Thanks for the write Jajang!

  • A former member wrote: without the pieces of the past that remain as reminders..we may be condemned to repeat the same mistakes...I enjoyed reading this..very introspective...and y'know, some of us really dig scars ;)
