The Used To Be Man

By Malcholm Dark

I used to be a tear getter, love taker
A ladies breed of man, a heart breaker.
I used to be one cool kat, hip-hop shaker
A man of love, a turbo-charged baby maker.

I used to be a slicked up dresser, fresh jetter
A gentleman's quarterly, a real trend setter.
I used to be one styling kat, a cut better
A chic artist, a thread wearing go getter.

I used to be a life taker, ass kicker
A dog of war, a deadly flame flicker.
I used to be one cruel kat, fight picker
An enemy destroyer, a dirty pig sticker.

--I once had set this world on fire,
a shooting star, that's what I am.
--Now my ways have ceased to inspire,
look at me now, the used to be man.

I used to be so many things, once upon a way
A drunk driver has since taken them all away.
I used to be one functional kat, only yesterday
The used to be man is what I have become today!

--Now there is nothing more to prove,
a quadriplegic, that's what I am.
--My intire body has ceased to move,
wasting away...
                       day by day...
                                          the used to be man.

Oh, I was not expecting that ending! Well played. Very clever manipulation of the reader's emotions throughout.

I love your poetry, and the stories you tell. The lessons, the morals.

Oh wow, that was truly depressing. The ending was even a little shocking to me, I wasn't expecting it. A brilliant write once again, you never seem to disappoint. Scholar
