The Glass Fortress (with SaturatedLoneliness6)

By ToxicLove

Thoughts revealed, feelings rejected, words spoken in vain
A titanium vault protects a heart sealed within a glass pane
She admits it… She tripped, and yes she did fall
It seems he had a grenade after all...

The cinder block lies at her feet
She holds her breath feeling her heart beat
Friends ~ The word echoes over and over in her mind
Who knew this word could be so unkind?

She gathers her courage and picks herself up off the ground
Finding this new strength which has stayed locked away; unfound
Behind his back he clutches his grenade so tight
He knew just how to end this ongoing fight.

She stands her ground, steady and strong
Not knowing what he had planned all along
She takes one step forward and two steps back
His eyes reveal his cruel plan of attack.

He turns away with bad intentions in mind
She asks herself, “How could I have been so blind?”
He pulls the pin, turns to her and looks her in the eyes
Now she can comb through his elaborate web of lies.

He tosses the grenade it pierces the glass
The titanium vault disappears at last
She falls to the ground yet again she know that this is the end
Never again will she let anyone in.

he stalks her no more... she listens to his promises no more...
his words are void... his love is dead to her..
