Jealousy [the woman]

By colorapathy

And she said to me, “Yes, I’m an attention whore.
What of it?”
As I watched her streak blood across her face,
The makeup of the jaded.
She slipped into satin pools of air. Her eyes,
As green, bored into my soul.
My thoughts were skewed by impulses from reality,
“I thought jealousy was a monster?”
She smiled like amber, teeth yawning into oblivion,
“Jealousy is a woman.”
I stared at the floor to rest my eyes on something easy,
Thoughts crumbling into place.
The lurid fascination drawing me into her view again.
“Not a green eyed Monster?”
Her smirk was tinted with prayers from souls,
Delivering oaths to their goddess.
“I didn’t say that did I?”
Confusion clouds my vision as I look to her eyes,
The glitter of green.
“I do not understand. What do you mean?”
Her laugh echoed jaggedly through empty space,
“I said, Jealousy is a woman.”
