Wilderness

Wilderness

~*~*~*~*~*~
Impulsive...reckless...hot-blooded...headstrong
Too daring...uncaring...unbalanced...all wrong
These are your judgements, assumptions...my "flaws"
You think me the weak one, the quitter...lost cause
Well lost I may be, but quitting? Not an option
I am instinct, survival, reaction...fuck caution.
I am sprung from the Wilderness, far from your Temperate Zone
Survival of the fittest, no weakness condoned
It's life on the ice pack, a misstep seals a fate
Choices presented, must not hesitate
Just keep moving forward, I'm sinking, blindly leap
If I falter or waiver, my life I'll not keep.
No rest for the weary, no comfort...so alone
The darkness surrounds me, a vast, black unknown
I hear them, their whisperings...the demons I face
They seek my destruction in this forsaken place
They're leery, recalling the battles I've won
I scream out my defiance, I'll not be undone
But now, the inevitable moment has come
The ice floe is shrinking from the now rising sun
I must not lose focus, this race I must win
I'll not be defeated, a victim again
I am power, survivor...my instincts are true
I'll be free of this wilderness if it's the last thing I do

It seems you have been criticized all your life with no room for complements. It's a natural thing to rage out like that. Enjoyed the reading
