Me and My Lover

By Rhys Ki

So now our worries are washed out to sea as we
Set sail our bamboo boats of wishes and dreams.
The water dissolves the worries I held in my vice
Like the sea shells that were of yesterday’s tide.

The sun rises, a light that cuts the forlorn
Darkness, the emptiness that was my storm,
The raging whirlpools in our eyes
Turned to harmonious, ebbing sighs
Of “I love you”s, “I miss you”s, and grace.
And beyond the black, there’ll be a place
Where we will meet once more to embrace
One another, chuckle in Death’s face (ha-ha),
Then shed a tear in fear of it all happening again.
And it’s hard to say how I feel today, my love, my friend.
Those years since passed, with you always gone
(why were you gone?)
Have torn me apart, but I can’t hold my tongue
(no, I can’t hold my tongue)
Anymore; I’m completed by you
(and the whole world should know it).
Even the sun is dim compared to you.
(I love you and I will show it).

The sparkling, starry skies had better just give it up
Because the way you shine will cover them all up.
And I can’t wait until we reach our harbor, our bliss,
Where you will point-out skylines then we’ll kiss,
And we’ll sink into the sand together on the shore,
Waste time as we watch it waste us, and kiss once more.
Then we’ll reach our hands out to caress each other
And turn to ghosts, fading into eternity, me and my lover.

I'm glad you like it, guys. I wish that I hadn't merely fabricated the feelings shown here. They are only of my imaginings, for I have not yet the one I truly love. Thank you, though.
