Whatever It is, to me.

By Drifter

I guess it's almost like religeon
You've got that overwhelming feeling that you need it

Like it's gonna save you

It's got it's contortions and lip service
It's quiet nights where your head runs away to someone else
Yeah; 'sorta like religeon

I want someone to ask me if i really think it's gonna save me.
No, really, i think i'd prefer not...
I would want to have an answer for'em first.

It's kinda confusing.
Like a hard rain on a low roof
When you're waitin on a pizza.
You're really never sure if there's someone there.

It's whipped cream on a turd:
Don't dig too deep.

It's a golden sun bathed afternoon at the ocean
Where you find the shallows near the beach
and the crowd
And the deapth only tempting to the lonely.
It's all sunshine and laughs
But believe me when i say
Eventually, you'll get burned.

This is the land where the dim whitted thrive
Where the world has requirements
Where u gotta measure up
If you don't you may a swell die
There is no exception, only vanity.

Myself... well i don't have looks.
I'm not smooth, hell i'm almost mute.
I got no place in it.
I'm by myself and i gotta be ok with it.

But not everyone swims so deep
I know that.
We arn't all here to drown.

See, it is kind of like a religeon. Love is.
Some of us are meant to live a happy life
Deep between the breasts of security and knowledge.

Then there's the rest of us.
Those who think they see it for what it really is.
We gotta find god in the smaller things.
See we don't have a choice, but we live anyway.

Ya, maybe it's a lonely life.
Shit, there's no question there.
When we die we'll keep looking stait ahead to see the crowd
With confidence we'll say we saw the truth.
With conviction we'll swear we let the world pass us by.
So one man will fall behind
So another can look back.

I'll humble myself
As any saint persecuted
Yet my name will not pass.

Give me my books.
Roll another joint.
I've nothing to do today.
I've nothing but time.
