Me vs. Me

By October Death

Drink it down, sweety, you're a superstar
Things girls shouldn't do behind closed doors
To the resin-fingered girl with the glossy eyes, can you feel the change?
Your skin crawls in unknown hands, the whispering in your ear mixing together,
and you're suddenly aware of the echo of lonliness pounding in your ears
Everything is a bit hazy, baby
But I'm sure that I will drown in these imperfections
It's hard to love a girl who can't love herself
Oh, and these drugs aren't saving me
So I'll bring the gun and you bring the eulogy
I'll take a step off the edge of the earth,
to a place where heartbreaks sleeps.
First, I'll just lay down and curl in,
because I can hear the time passing, and I just might get sick,
as the ceiling fan chants,
"Jesus crys for you"
I inched toward the surface, things fluttering in the corner of my eye,
but if I look back I'll drown, it will drag me down...
"Just put her in the back room until she's fixed," I heard him say.
"It's okay, she's not broken. It's the newest model. We call her
[Tainted.]" This voice calmed me, like seashells against your ear as a kid.
I grabbed the hand that reached out to save me, just as I started to slip.
