Faking It
By wannabe_rebel
She lights the candles while she talks to him
She'd like nothing better than to lie here
In a room full of smoke and the sound of his voice
She'd try so much harder to die here
To get rid of the chance that she might forget
The way that she feels with her headache
From breathing in too much smoke
And coughing on dead memories, dead hopes for him
The way that she feels with her heartache
From reveling in the way that he laughs
And feeling it's gonna be done soon
When he's no longer patient and ready to move on
She'll still be stuck here to dream on
Because teenage love never warms us, never warns us
Teenage love just smokes here and burns us
And it's just an abstract he just doesn't believe
Lying and dying in this room she cries
Staring at his picture in the popsicle frame
They say "bye" tonight in hopes for tomorrow
He doesn't realize it's already too late
She's tired of trying and lying about this
Still being friends even after they kiss
Her predicament now solved in this candlelight
Their last sham of friendship was her kiss goodbye...
