Reality is a Kaleidoscope

By hate_doll

I was twirling on the edge of the world
Blowing bubbles with wishes in them
Hoping when they burst, they'd come true
Not entirely unlike picking daisy petals
For peace and other abstract ideals

While I spun I laughed like sunshine
Peeking through jealous rain clouds
They told me I was too silly
There was no room for the spirit
Of a wind god or tree nymph

So I swallowed some marbles
And a silver pocket watch
To give myself sense and a fear of time
I thought I'd be heavy enough to sink
Into the dull hum of motive to success

But the clock hands only melted
Inspired by a man and our dreams
The marbles cracked and their milky
Cosmos spilled, coloring my insides
Like a madman Pollock painting

I could not be myself
While being someone else
I decided to sculpt the silver
Prism the cosmos and
Make a kaleidoscope

Now when I look from the clouds
To the sky from the trees
I see the world as it should be seen
With different angles
As a multi-dimensional canvas
That is constantly changing
