Lucy

By Crimson Shade

I take my place by the mantle,
Searching for the signs of your passing,
The purity of the flame reveals nothing,
But a slideshow of days passed.

You seemed happy, you moved with purpose once more,
Writing a “new chapter” in your life you said,
But now I see through your deception,
You were leaving me.

And now you’ve gone, “painless” they said,
I still don’t accept it – I’m the crazy one, not you,
I’m sorry my friend, I wasn’t strong enough,
I will live for both of us now - I will remember.

“I hope you find the peace in death that you couldn’t find in life – Goodbye Lucy, I’ll see you on the other side”
