In Retrospect of a Night Not Spent
By Doc
I had always prayed the aged,
Equals wisdom,
To denounce the evils that can only be instilled among us,
By sharp objects, intent upon destruction.
Fatigue has become no a burden,
But a savior,
Rings upon my eyes remind that,
The earth still remains beneath my feet,
Coherent, like never before.
Jig saw puzzles offer a world of opportunity,
Memory can prevail without them,
But the whole picture is never unveiled.
Had the venomous cocktail,
Not prevailed over what remained,
Of an honorless soul,
There might be some peace ,
Within the fragments.
I gave blood the other day,
I shook so hard the needle popped out,
Of an already damaged river,
It hurt and felt so familiar,
I just don’t remember why.

This is an interesting reflective piece. I like the conclusions you draw, and how it softly emanates a certain human weariness.
