GIVER

By veingo

Pleasing all the peaple all the time
must just come easily.
to me.

Tell me what you need and smile real sweet
and I'll do what I can.
again.

I bet you're here for something.
I bet you want it from me.
I bet somebody told you I'm a giver.

I bet you know all about,
how I won't let you down.
I might destroy myself but I'll deliver.

Pick through what you want, or what you need,
and carry it away.
Today.

But you don't know the half of all the things,
that I keep deep inside.
Behind.

Here in a cage I keep my heart.

Here in a box I keep my thoughts.

Here in a can I keep my sins.

Here in a bag I keep my scars.

Now don't think twice about where it came from
I've come to feel at home.
Alone.

But you'll be back my friend, that is something
on which we can depend.
...It's just a matter of when...

I bet you're here for something.
I bet you want it from me.
I bet somebody told you I'm a giver.

I bet you know all about,
how I won't let you7 down.
If I destroy myself I'll still deliver.

I really like this, it sounds very similar to me and how people will always take what they can. A friend of mine once said "we're all put on this earth to use eachother" and I don't believe that to be true but some do go along throughout life to get whatever they can from others, sad but so true

this is so touching, so selfless. . those who are truely selfless unfortunatly are the ones that are used and broken over and over again. . its truely sad. . great write.

Very powerful. I wish it easy enough to sum this all up in one word, but I can't. So intense and moving will have to do. :)

  • A former member wrote: mmm, yeah...what hasn't been said? this mostly reminded me of a friend more than myself tho...i still help, but not at my expense...not anymore...

Yeah, those lines really brought it home...I know what it's like to be 'the giver' of a large group of people, which is why these days i dont even have my own personality, too busy making everyone else like me so they like themselves..Very good write

  • A former member wrote: Very powerfully stated...the repetition of those six lines struck your message home. This is lovely. *Evangel*
