internally skeletal

By manunkind

i do not starve
dear caring friends
the stars! the moon!
for steadily i dine upon air
and upon the cool nights
that solidify
my internal cries
oh....i do not starve!
for every night i feast
upon my loneliness
and gulp droughts
of burning fear
i do not starve...
though my wrists are brittle
and my legs are naught
but bones
i devour what i can...
though compassion and love
seem to be missing from my diet
this sagging skin,
so cursed...
aching for a breath of kindness
to swallow a single bite of
thoughtful words!
i do not starve...
though i lie awake at night
utterly exhausted
bones hollow and aching
joints hungrily creaking
for a taste of touch
and to gnaw upon juicy
succulent
kisses
i lie awake at night...
willing these night visions to vanish
for some days...
to sip upon silent whispers
and to eat only
the hope for something better
is just not enough

An amazing piece, gulped down with a sad smile. The way you express yourself is magnificent, each word leads me to add another measure of respect for you...
