feeling what the eyes see

By manunkind

the world is so much clearer when looked at
through a lens of tears
a woven tapestry of chaotic color
after a time, in the blurred circumference,
you can see your heart beat
remnants of chairs and lamps and bed sheets
shivering and rippling in one small
insignificant eye
a throbbing, pulsing world
you see only what you wish
only what you love
until
the ugly details of the cruel world crowd out
what little beauty
simplicity made ugly by the
gaudy
minute etchings that sketch our lives
the world becomes dark, glaring, grotesque
and threatens to engulf us
swallow us as if we were never here
and then
we fall
head first into a roaring, whirling
windstorm of anger and animosity
choking on burning liquid hatred
spluttering and crying out!
[the good Samaritan law a facade)
forgotten and bitter, the earth
soaks
in its own vanity juices
pickling in the acidic lemony sauce that
so dominates it
AND THEN
the pregnant tear clots......
and hits the tiled floor

such a small thing has force enough
to shake the stubborn earth

a fluttering of eyelashes,
a blink shall re-associate me
with the starving, shriveling reality
and the inevitable danger ahead

i smile through my tears,
i know that there are more moments like this yet to come
