Can You Tell I'm Gothic?

By Kali Ma

My favorite colour is black,
Can you tell?
I wear it everyday;
I paint my nails with it,
I colour my lips with it,
and cover my eyes with it.
Can you tell I'm Gothic?

I wear silver crosses,
And tons of jewelery,
And a long black trenchcoat,
Everday.
I sit all alone,
Staring at all the preps
with anger and resentment.
I read books on spells,
and call myself a 'witch',
without knowing anything on it.
I read a little about Satanism
and think it's the thing for me.
I'm Gothic, can you tell?

I buy tons of candles,
packs of incence,
and bottles of oils.
I search the web for information
on Celtic religions and others,
and think I know all about it.
I write dark poems, even if they suck,
and think they are perfect -
if a little dark and depressed,
Just like me.
I'm Gothic, can you tell now?

I draw large pentacles
on all of my stuff
and say I am just 'misunderstood'.
I look down on others that aren't like me,
calling them 'pathetic' and 'sad',
and wonder why they call me a 'freak'.
I am Gothic, and proud of it.
I love who I am,
Can you tell?

This poem is being satirical about goths, however when I actually wrote this poem (it was a while back) I was "goth". So, I suppose I was making fun of myself. I don't know if that makes sense at all, but this is the outcome to clear up any doubts. ~ As

I read the line "I buy tons of candles" as I buy tons of candies, and I was going to say "I like candy" but I read it again, and now I'm dissapointed.

Gothic tries to be different by making rules by which you can call yourself gothic... that's just like all the other "groups" of people...cages of people... A true Goth likes the beauty, not the depression. Yeah, sure you can say sadness had it's beauties

would a 'goth' even waste the time saying their 'goth'?

Or maybe she is really gothic, and is trying to prove that no matter how cliched or freakish people think she is, that she's still proud and loves who she is?
