cruel heat
By manunkind
The boogey man twirled me round and round
He dipped me, then hugged me close
And he spun me again, till I saw the moon a thousand times, a thousand
angles
Echoing light and a message from a night visitor
He whispered in my ear
“I know who you hate, and others you loveâ€
hate is my passion and love is my flare
so take my hand and we’ll fly to a place where both will reside
we danced jigs
and tangos
and Russian waltz
until star dust coated my shoes and my hair
hate is my passion and love is my flare
then together, we skipped off into the chalky night
and blew bubbles from extra rainbow soup
they flew up up and away catching rays of light
to land upon shadowy, lonely planets
where iridescent color orbs graced cold rock
bursting where magnet dust penetrates
gold liquid splattering worthless upon a desolate surface
turning cartwheels and somersaults he taught me to sing as he went
and from my lips poured music, soft and sweet
notes like cherry blossoms filled the vacuums of time and space
for once, the universe was my oyster, caressing every croon
he looked into my eyes and cried “oh look at the time!â€
“I’ll be late for the queen’s tea party!â€
And at that, the boogey man scampered into a crevice
Of a hole
And jumped into the world where time and physical attributes are irrelevant
And as I blinked my eye, to smite a renegade tear,
Space alluded me and morphed into the
Familiar scene
That day’s cruel heat had been driven away
