Bent and Broken
By Liath
People stray
Make mistakes
And regret the day
But nobody really changes
Circumstances are skewed
Feelings are twisted
Fate is screwed
Love again resisted
I look in the mirror
Only to find the face of a stranger
Cuts on my arms becoming clearer
And hope being torn by anger
Well it seems I'm falling farther
I want a love, I want to feel
Find peace
And find a way
'Cause I'm missing you
More than you'll ever know
And this feeling is nothing new
Your love for me is burning low
Unrelenting rain pelts the ground
Washing the place where blood once lay
And the love that was found
Lays in the gutter this sad deadened day
A crumpled mess of tangled words
And hearts entwined tightly
They unravel and the cords loosen
And the future shatters on the pavement sweetly
As these words reach the stars this night
I carry on and leave my love on the road behind me
My heart is heavy and tired from the fight
I have no more life yet left in me
And it burns on down
The superstructure of our love
Finally it fades, faster than a feigned frown
And the smoke envelops like a glove
Drop to my knees and pray
Bow my head to the wet street
And hope to carry on this day
To let it go and land on my feet
There's always so far to go
On the shortest route to happiness
Always seems to be against the flow
And love leads to sadness
In all the cracks of my memories
My love bleeds through
And puddles around my feet
Drowning me slowly
