This is not a poem
this is a song 
I've known it my whole life 
I've known it all along
I could sing about a woman 
I could sing about love
But that it was not my fate
my song is not beloved 

I sing a song of betrayal
a song already sung
A song that I have heard before 
a song that is undone 
It's a song about tragedy 
a song about grief
A song I will not sing to you
a song only for me

It is a song that continues 
like a distant memory 
It is a song that forsakes 
and destroyes your beliefs
But,I cannot sing this song
because I cannot sing
This song I must let it die
a song that comes from me
