A Cold Appetite
By Commander_Cadaver
Day 36
It...it finally happened.
We finally killed someone
Just to eat them.
There was no order.
There was no willingness.
David, Josh, and I...we killed
Her because we knew we could
Overpower her.
Her screams...
Oh god those horrible screams.
I had to shut her up.
Had to stop those screams...
So I grabbed a firepoker
And stabbed it into her skull
Through her right eye.
Her final twitches caused Josh
To run to the corner and vomit.
David shown no emotion as he
Began to cut her up for
The fire.
Hours later, and those screams
Still echo off of the walls.
Day 47? 48?
Has it been three days or four
Since David and I killed Josh?
Days are fading into each other.
It was a little easier this time.
We waited until he was asleep
And broke his neck.
He died quickly...lucky bastard.
We're dangerously low on wood
For the fire.
Furniture already destroyed
And burnt to keep us warm.
David keeps staring into the embers
Of a dwindling fire, muttering nonsense.
I have no desire to sleep anymore,
Knowing that if I do,
I could end up as a meal.
But oh how my cold bones
And slightly frost bitten flesh
Call for sleep's sweet embrace.
Not yet.
I KILLED HIM!
He left me no choice!
We were sitting next to each
Other to try and warm up
When he turned and looked
At me.
I could see the hunger in his eyes.
I could see his mouth twitch.
I knew what he was going to do.
So I did it first...
I lunged at him, pinned him
To the floor, and bit deeply
Into his neck.
The sudden rush of blood
Caught me off guard and nearly
Choked me.
As I gasped for air,
So did David...but it was fruitless.
Before he could completely bleed out
I stabbed him through the gut
With the firepoker.
Tearing the stab wound wider,
I began to disembowel him.
He watched in frozen terror
As I ate his intestines raw.
His head hit the floor as he finally
Died from his wounds.
I ate him.
I ate my friends...
And for what?
To die alone and hungry?
Why did we even come out here?
Why did...
Voices!
I hear voices!
Distant but drawing nearer.
I can't believe it.
My mind races with so many
Emotions yet the only thing
I can feel is...
Hunger.

I love everything about this. It's brutal and vivid. It's really well written as well. I'm a sucker for a story driven write, and this had everything. I'm keeping it.
