Red Shining

By Samael Crowe

Violently dispersed red shining above
That enthrals the eyes at once to stare
And ponder...

Emerging words from the book of night
Fearless stood I, having weathered the urge
To ignite the air with wonder
Of what could have been

My loathed chamber is calling me back
Forth from the music I returned
And envied those who slept…

I awoke from a sleepless dream
With a tear and the shattered hope
Yearning for the true reason I wept
For what could have been

Another blank breath taken sans gratitude
Enforcing the dank and dim atmosphere
Of autumn…

Beneath the ice the river still may flow
And once the rhythm slows inside
The sorrow of that shall be… forgotten
With no regret for what could have been

That dwells here is a good guy. This one is very melancholy to me, I like the stage you've set of possible seasons being able to stir emotion.

Welcome to DP, Sam, and a fine entrance you've made too. Reminds me of a John Greenleaf Whittier: :"The saddest words ever put to pen were only these: what might have been). Paraphrased from the closing to his Maud Muller as I recall. You set a sepulchral stage and a proper mood beforehand, cheers! - Dan
