A crooked mile

By molock

golden flowers,
black seeds.
in my darkest hour,
...my master makes
me bleed.
chasin' dragons,
...always upstream.
Antiquated,
dope Fein daydream....
Always sedated,
....nothing's ever as it
seems.

Shadow of death,
seeking my skin.
hungers of the flesh,
....cloaked in sin.
when they lay my
bones to rest,
...will i be forsaken?
a thousand angels,
dance on the end of a
pin.
the road to hell,
is paved with
condemnation....

looking for a mountain
top,
walking through the
valley.
heaven above,
with the devil beside
me.
a crooked mile,
long and winding....
on the road to redemption,
the wind is crying...

i wrote this in the first person but
i do not do hardcore drugs.
i live in an area where the
heroin overdose rate is out of
control
just writing from that perspective
   peace everyone - m0

Mo, this is beautifully dark. A thousand angels dance on the end of a pin, my fave. Many wasted lives shared and glimpsed in one short poem. I wish I could write as you do. This was a deep write with the perfect ambience to compliment its story. A sad truth shared in a way only a poet can express of such a dark topic and stir the hearts of even the judgmental to feel an addicts demise within addiction.... Well written, admiration achieved.

I, too, live in an area where drugs are a daily dose in everyday life so I can relate. Though I cannot relate to addicts, this poem definitely makes me feel their addiction. Excellent! ... sis Dev.
