On the Steps of Somewhere New

By Eadgar Anton Crowe

If I asked you to dance
Could you walk in step with me?
Through the timbre, the winter, the forest's majesty
Waltz on through the nebular haze
And slow only as we reach the end of days

Can you match me breath for breath
Dressed in black from bed to death
Onto white dress that the autumn red begets
As the skies are set ablaze

Could you further my heart in dreadful hollows
As I fervour your spark with kiss and fever-touch
I know your mind, your body, your lust
As you know my taste and that I must...

On the steps of somewhere new
We grew from Plato's grasp
To lovers atop a living gas that now and forever
Breathes its last

I would have rated this poem a ten just because of the first stanza alone. Your word choice is clearly well thought out and you have quite the talent for clever wording. Awesome job.
