Boxed Beginnings

By Maladroit

Your happily ever after?

Unattainable.

Your once upon a time

is present day.

Always in collections-

a series,
short-lived,

because

you could never commit to endings.

I too,

prefer to imagine the rest of the story

so that I may continue to contort you

into consistent perfection.

We are spineless optimists, destined to have a falling out with following through.

But today,
I could love you.

for some reason, those 'just for today' moments hurt more than the rest. You see the ending, but you can't stop it. This hurt. Wonderful.

It's a shame fairytales are just that. In reality we can find something similar perhaps at least one can hope. Scholar

Dreaming about that perfect ending we know can never happen...don't we all? This was beautiful and real.
