dead men can dream.

By sanglante

if only I could sleep
and dream forever.
the harsh and
dissonant reality I am in
would easily melt and meld
into the bright and beautiful
swirling colours in my head.

no more details,
or frustration would strike me.
in my dreams the world is shining.
I wish to sleep constantly,
so that my dreams could
become my reality;

but as soon as I sleep,
I wake instantly
and so I've always believed

that only the dead can sleep peacefully.

Zombies, vampires, and other restless spirits would beg to differ. Much enjoyed the piece, sounds like maybe you work nights? Cheers!

...that's an interesting premise delivered in a very attractive package of poetry...

I like it, but I think you should add more. I wasn't ready for it to end! I think there is so much more to explore here and if you do, I'd love to be informed. If not, I'll just have to read it more than once a sitting :) Dreams are a favorite subject of mine. Scholar
