Cold Comfort
By Hands_Around_My_Throat
Searching, seeking
Some salvation
Witless wonders
Without elation,
No love- just loss
And escalation.
Across your arm
You have some scars
They trap you in
Like prison bars-
They are a badge
Of bleeding emotion-
A constant reminder
Of your devotion,
Fuck her thoughtless
Proclamation,
A would be lover’s
declaration,
She said love
but lovers lie.
Emotions fizzle
and they die.
I can’t explain-
it can’t be shown.
But either way
you’re still alone.
So take cement
and fill the cracks.
She took your heart,
so take it back.
Make it hard,
more stone than glass,
In time your pain
will come to pass,
Someday she’ll get
what she is due.
To be alone and lonely,
just like you.

I was trying to comfort a friend today, and I think I failed. I just wish that broken hearts could have more logic than they do...Comments on "Cold Comfort"

Its so much easier not to be human. Emotions erode, let in decay. Left feeling bitter...... it's better your way. Nice work

I guess it all depends on the person, and how hurt they really are in a given moment. It all makes sense though, the more hurt that person, the harder it is to get through to them but then again everyone's different and this may not apply to all. Despite not being able to comfort your friend you at least tried and there's no fault or shame in that. Hopefully they'll understand in time, until then just keep being you. Thank you for sharing =)

Thanks. I just didn't know what to say. Heart break is awful, but life goes on, and eventually you fall in love again, even against your better judgement, but that's just life. Wanting to end it all without love is romantic and all, but it won't bring you any future happiness and it will just hurt the ones who love you.
