Graffiti

By Ladyhawke

Craddled in the arm of the broken
A menagerie of words unspoken
Hearing the silent screams of objection
Of forgotten slaves who have no more

Your strong words give courage and hope
To those whom emotion does not evoke
You show them their true reflection
The one they ARE, and the one you adore

'Neath the mask of eternity
Lies the victors of the conformnity
The ones who defied bonds and subjection
Who through all the lies can see to the core

Expelling from yourself the past
Having all your transgressions amassed
Claim the will to fight your imperfection
As the moons whispers, "Te quiero, mi amor."

With your bare hands you unearth it
We settle for nothing less than perfect
Your pitiful attempt at perfection
Says 'No' to everything we stand for

So with a wordless entreaty
As a mime writes 'pon a wall graffiti
So pen'd these words, of those of discretion
      Signed with a tear...

says, the falling fool

Author's Note:

This came pouring out of my head at 3am this morning. Update: Written years ago, but somehow quite fitting as a tribute to a man who gave me courage.... and much much more. More than I can ever put into words. Thank you.

Miss hawke, I remember the day you said poetry was hard. I always knew you would be an excellent poet and writer. Within and without they say. That's you, that's what this is.
