Edge Of Darkness

By Malcholm Dark

"Why have you forsaken me?
In my eyes, forsaken me?
In my thoughts, forsaken me?
In my heart, forsaken me?"

I stand here at the edge of darkness
The light of goodness begins to fade.
I have fallen from the grace of god
And into this house of cards I've made.

I stand here in the wake of hatred
Counting moments until his demise.
And there beneath this shroud of vengeance
My anxiety begins its' rise.

And now I have you here before me
This drunk driver that killed my wife.
An attorney took you off the hook
And away from any prison life.

So before I put this ax to use
Dismembering you because I should.
There is something that you need to know
I would like this known and understood.

Your dying will be slow and painful
That's right, a little piece at a time.
And in the end when the screaming stops
You will have paid in full for your crime.

.
.
.
.
.
I stand here at the edge of darkness
The light of vengeance upon my back.
Standing on the edge of forever
With a swing of my ax, I attack!

SWISH

...thwack!!!
.
.
.
"Good-night sweet prince;
And flights of angels sing thee to your rest."

Shakespeare and System of a Down? Hey, if someone's willing to make the fusion, then it must have clicked in one way or another. I'm always drawn to your words, and the stories within, knowing full well, that your characters would make horrible social workers. That's why I like them, vigilante justice, thank you. Scholar
