dinner at Wendy's 8.34 p.m.
By nur hidayah
would that the world spin in
a different direction
warped
to accommodate
a single moment
with a possible you.
the night, star-choked
violently romantic---
drenched in
endings,
and you...
eyes closed to spare
that burning
gaze,
breath eddying
as our lips almost graze,
unspoken
sentences
leaving feather promises,
diffusing as
our
silhouettes torched
untethered to our feet
because you always
kiss
with your eyes wide open
our lashes fusing in frenzy
as our liquid souls meet.
would that the heavens
see
the glorious impossibility
of you and me.
thus away
from the fates
uncreate
our female bodies,
our cautious
minds,
our fickle, fragile hearts,
leave us be
in our
basest essence
to meld and burn
as a single entity
just
for a perfect second
in this lawless infinity.
tick.
a blink.
you sit across the
table
fork still in hand
disoriented, misplaced.
on a trembling
lower lip lingering
you lick
the after
taste
of a never memory---
an invisible remnant
a smear of me.

Simple moments made melodious through the joy of beauty - delicate and delicious expression of ideas an imagined frenetic event with the contrast of the briefest movement - a monumentous thought played out in slow motion.

Nur, the beauty of your spirit shows easily in your writing, a plane that many aspire to but few attain.
